Said the following about Andrew Williamson:

“Andy works in the booking office at Barrow in Furness Station and is a valued member of a very hard working team.

Andy has recently started deputising for his Manager as part of his ongoing development and he has made an excellent start and is gaining respect from his peers with his professional attitude and aptitude to learn and progress.

Andy has been through some difficult situations recently with the major disruption that has occurred in Cumbria due to the May 18 timetable change as this area can get very isolated due to its geographical location. He has supported the staff at the station during this time and has taken on some difficult decisions. He has visited out stations to see if the staff have any issues or just to sit with them and have a coffee and a chat. He is a whizz at rostering and assists the area roster clerk at times to avoid station closures and also to assist staff at weekends if required. He has attended courses as part of his development and he has achieved high results and this he has brought back to the workplace and shared his knowledge to others.

Andy is always professional in his approach to all situations and stays calm in the most difficult of circumstances. His customer service is excellent and in this area he excels and during recent major disruption he has proven results in this with customers writing in to comment on the way he assisted them and how polite and helpful he had been.

Andy always goes above and beyond and I feel very proud to be his Manager and to have been able to help and nurture him in his development. He is an absolute asset to the area and to the company and his extensive knowledge and experience of his job is second to none and he shares this with all he comes in contact with to help and assist. He stands in high esteem with all is colleagues and he has gained respect due to his constant helpful empathetic attitude.

I would like to nominate Andy for the Station Staff of the Year as he is an exceptional member of staff that can be trusted on every level and who has achieved much due to his professionalism and his willingness to learn and continues to help and support others.“
