“On the morning in September, a male jumped on to the tracks at the station. When Akin Martins and Jama Shire approached the male he was visibly upset, crying and stating that he wanted to kill himself. Akin and Jama spoke with the male and convinced him to get back on to the platform and join them in the station office so that he was safe.
They were able to contact the emergency services so that the ambulance service and BTP were able to respond and they kept the male safe until help had arrived. The quick actions of Akin and Jama undoubtedly saved this man's life and the fact that this incident happened during the morning peak at a busy station demonstrates how quickly they both had to react.“
