Nominations for Rail Team of the Year

Gary Campbell

Said the following about Virgin Trains Liverpool Lime Street:

“The final part of Liverpool Lime Street’s transformation took part this summer. After an initial three week blockade in late 2017, the station was closed for a further nine weeks as work was undertaken to increase capacity to meet the growing demands of the ever popular city.

It was vital that Liverpool was seen to remain ‘open for business’ during this period and a key part of this was the relocation of Virgin Trains entire operation to Liverpool South Parkway.

From signing on points to train dispatch. Stocking the trains to Journey Care assistance. Ticket sales to customer boarding. Liaising with other TOCs and Network Rail’s signallers. A new way of working had to be learnt during months of preparation.

The Virgin Trains team at Lime Street more than responded to the challenge, making South Parkway their new temporary home, providing their customers with reassurance, in a safe and friendly environment, with helpful onward travel advice for those heading to and from the city centre. Despite the disruption, the Liverpool route top Virgin’s customer satisfaction charts, with the station team singled out for praise.“
