Said the following about Stevenage Station Supervisors Team:

“Stevenage Station Supervisors Team consists of: Gareth Lock, Susan Shickle, Tony Jackson, Dominic Morgan, and Jack Wilson.

This supervisor team play a key role in Great Northern’s route operations. They tirelessly assist stakeholders, resolve staffing issues, proactively handle disruption issues and are our oracle to smaller stations across Great Northern. They are ever willing to support training, new starters and guide agency staff. Their insight is also essential in supporting Control and the Operations departments. The commitment shown has raised the bar for the front line teams and the ownership they take should be commended.

Outstanding personal contributions are made in handling customer care, assisting mobility restricted travellers and respectfully intervening with vulnerable passengers or managing conflictive situations. Empathy and determination should be included in the job description or them! This team make the job look easy – which we all know it is not.

The uniqueness of this situation, with island platforms on the ECML and other TOC operators requires a tireless work ethic to keep trains running on Great Northern. These Supervisors are it‘s backbone and they should be proud of how they deliver daily.

Their work has really paid off recently when they won a Pride of Stevenage Award from Stevenage Borough Council. They received this award in recognition to their service to the local community and beyond. It goes without saying you don’t win council awards unless you are doing a really great job, this team truly care about their station and the local area. It is another example of how this team has a real pride and ownership for their supportive role, helping to ensure that Stevenage station continues to be the gateway hub for the local community.

This is a massive achievement and it goes without saying this team should be recognised. The Award would not have been won had it not been for the commitment of a small team of Supervisors.

Being the hub of the local community is a true achievement; the station also links in with the Princes Trust who has a regional office across the road from the station. These supervisors are so proud of what they are achieving with GTR and keep putting back into their local community and local staff teams.
