“Paul was driving a train involved in a very near miss with track workers on 5th October 2017, when five track workers narrowly escaped being struck by his train. The last member of the team getting out of the way two seconds before the train. So close in fact that Paul assumed he had struck the group. Paul not only cooperated fully with two industry investigations he also agreed to participate in a powerful video for Network Rail which the company used nationwide to emphasis the impact that safety incidents can have on drivers confidence and motivation.
It took great courage, not only to deal with the incident and its immediate aftermath but also his willingness to help others learn from his misfortune with the hope that it would avoid others having to experience what he has.“
“I felt extremely honoured when i received an invite for the Rail Staff awards 2014. I really did not expect it so it was a very pleasant surprise and had no hesitation in accepting the invite to this prestigious event. My experience of the evening was amazing. We choose to get into the spirit of the evening and arrive in fancy dress which thankfully so did a lot of other people. The food was of fantastic quality and the little deserts were the best. The entertainment provided was thoroughly entertaining. The evening was expertly planned from beginning to end. It was a very humbling experience to watch the nominees and winners and listen to the reasons why they were there. I felt extremely proud to be part of the railway family.”
