Nominations for Rail Person of the Year

Robert Johnson

Said the following about Jenny Stewart:

“MTR Crossrail has invested in new software to integrate its planning, rostering, payroll and control systems. This replaces an established legacy industry system while paving the way for planning and control of train services to be integrated with developments in the digital railway.

MTR Crossrail is the first TOC in the UK to invest in this technology and like any major IT change, its implementation requires extensive testing, fault rectification, staff training and time for parallel running to ensure it is operating as it should. In a live environment, this requires extensive perseverance whilst the pressure of planning train services for the new Elizabeth line every day can never be compromised.

Since joining MTR Crossrail last year, Jenny has quietly and efficiently carried out her role as a train planner to a very high level of accuracy. In addition to this, Jenny has carried out sterling work in helping to implement some new software (IVU) to the business. She has been instrumental in dealing with the software suppliers and correcting any issues before we progress too far into the project whilst inspiring others in the team to embrace the new system and a different way of working.

All long term planning for the Elizabeth line is now carried out using IVU, paving the way for other departments to migrate to the new software. The project could not have progressed in this way had it not been for the hard work and perseverance by Jenny, which she has undertaken over and above her daily role.“
