Samuel McDonagh

Said the following about Georgina Cooper:

“Georgina is an outstanding member of our team. She has developed a new competency system that has allowed our entire operational management team to be assessed and kept up to date with the latest industry developments. Over the past 12 months, many aspects of our business have changed, and Georgina has been at the forefront of the changes that have affected our part of the business, ensuring that standards and competencies are updated to ensure that our teams are the best at what they do, by achieving the best possible working practices whilst providing the best possible service for our customers.“

Tim McCarthy

Said the following about Georgina Cooper:

“Georgina only joined Southern in January 2014 as a Gate Line Team Leader at Brighton Station. She then moved on to be a Rail Neighbourhood Officer based at Purley Station and later took the opportunity to be a Station Manager at London Bridge. She now works for GTR as a Standards and Competence Management System (CMS) Manager based at the Rail Operating Centre (ROC) at Three Bridges Rail Operating Centre. I would describe Georgina as open, honest and trustworthy and is a valued member of the Network Operations People Development Team. She has done an amazing job in getting all the standards written for Control as well as a new Competence Management System that all of our Controllers use. Georgina is keen to build a high performance culture where all members of the ROC own and excel in their individual and team development. In addition to this she organises the Wellbeing Days which are a joint initiative with Network Rail. In her spare time she is also a volunteer member of the British Transport Police.“

Patryk Kurdziel

Said the following about Georgina Cooper:

“In the past year GTR have faced some big challenges, such as introduction of the new timetable. During this time Georgina Cooper has been a prime example of what it means to work for the railway and more specifically, what it means to be a part of the “railway family”.

Despite the difficult times, she has worked tirelessly to develop and now manage a Competency Management System and development of new standards, which supports the Network Operation team’s competence, which in turn helps us in working towards delivering what our customers expect. She goes above and beyond to support each manager by keeping them fully informed as to when each of their team needs to be assessed, often on an individual basis. Georgina further supports the entire Network Operations team by regularly organising “Well Being Days” to ensure everyone here is looked after and feels part of the family, something that was immensely appreciated when things got tough earlier this year.

Georgina is the sort of individual who is not afraid of a challenge, she gets involved wherever she can, if it means she can help. She always puts others first and volunteers her own time as a British Transport Police Special Constable, where she further supports frontline colleagues and customers and keeps our railway safe. She has travelled a long way since starting her railway career as a Gateline Team Leader, she’s an inspiration and a true role model without a shadow of a doubt and to top it all off, she is the loveliest person you’ll ever meet!“
