The RailStaff Awards 2024

Nominations for Rail Manager of the Year

Cindy Morse - HAS LEFT

Said the following about Damon Colvin - **HAS LEFT**:

“Damon is one of our managers that actively participate in the Princes Trust programme collaboration with GTR, and continuously assist the young people that join us from the scheme. He has on various programmes offering to take more than his fair share of young people. A particular example of how Damon contributes to the success of the programmes was when the Timetable change occurred, even with some of the challenged that this brought with it with Damon’s help we were able to place all 12 of the young people from one of the programmes across the Southern Network, without Damon’s support we would not have been able to allocate a job for all the young people.

What also makes Damon worthy of this nomination is that he has stepped in to support at Princes Trust key events where it was critical for a manager to be present, and what makes it stands out is that he was on rest days for one of these days but he still came in to help.

It goes without saying that Damon has a busy enough job without being added additional work. Damon is a real ambassador for the programme and is the reason why we have seen some great success with two of his young people being awarded GTR Excellence Awards, and a third one being nominated.

He is a genuinely supportive manager who has now also taken on the role of being a Progression Mentor to young people, again he has taken this task on to be trained up on his rest day.

Without his support we wouldn’t have been able to run this programme on the Southern Network, or seen the success of the young people we are seeing that are offered jobs at London Bridge.“
