“5th April while carrying out his driving duties between Leeds and hull Andy noticed a car at Ruddings lane crossing with something attached to it. He notified the signaller who contacted the emergency services to attend the car. The driver of the car was attempting to commit suicide with a hose pipe attached to his exhaust and inserted into his car window. Andy had noticed this immediately and had the quick thinking attitude to inform the signaller even though he would have been travelling at 75 mph and would have only got a quick view of the car. The driver was rescued by the emergency services in a very isolated crossing in the middle of nowhere when had Andy not reacted quickly enough the occupier of the vehicle would have surely died“
