“Alex Lucas has consistently demonstrated exemplary customer service over the 15 years that I have been using Elsenham train station. His station is always immaculate; the waiting rooms are clean & warm and the footbridge & platforms are always gritted in bad weather.

Most of all though I wish to commend Alex for the invaluable service he performs by notifying his customers about train delays & cancellations via social media. He does this voluntarily & even advises people to arrive early if the platforms / footbridge are icy.

Alex is unflappable, patient, calm, friendly, polite, cheerful & generally an absolute asset to our community. We are exceptionally lucky to have him I am proud to be able to nominate him for this award.“

He’s helped my son out on numerous occasions with new or lost tickets and refunds.

Alex makes sure you never miss the train and you always get your ticket on time. He’s always happy and has a kind word for customers, no matter how early or cold!“

What would we have done without his constant updates on what trains were running during the snow? Thanks to Alex and his outstanding customer service my husband and many others managed to get trains home and plan their journeys. As soon as he had an update he updated the whole village on our Facebook page. Thank you Alex you are a star ⭐“

From the Monday morning rush of commuters, to consistently updating the village Facebook page with helpful information, to answering all questions and if (very rarely!) he cannot, helping us to find the answers. He has time for everyone and is approachable, considerate, hardworking and an absolute asset to Greater Anglia - the epitome of outstanding customer service. The station would simply not be the same without him! In addition to this, his thoughtful decoration of the station for key events is appreciated by all, and he always goes the extra mile - the board in the station with jokes and information is particularly lovely and helps brighten a weekly commute. Well done Alex!!“
