David Sexton

Training and Development Manager at Seaton Rail said the following on 10/10/2016:

"It was a fantastic night!!"

Caroline Magin

Project Officer - Network Rail at Samaritans said the following on 15/07/2016:

"The Lifesaver award seeks to recognise those individuals who have intervened to potentially save the life of a vulnerable person on the rail network, and to demonstrate that talking and listening to someone in need can make a huge difference. Samaritans’ aims of breaking down barriers to intervening and the myths about suicide are now imbedded in rail culture with over 10,500 staff trained, while the number of interventions are up by 34% from April 2015. Empowering staff to support vulnerable members of the public, colleagues, friends or family remains a core part of the relationship between the rail industry and Samaritans and The Lifesaver award is an opportunity to highlight this crucial on-going work as well as encouraging rail staff to be champions for our service."

John Sheehy

General Manager at Transport Benevolent Fund said the following on 12/07/2016:

"“John Sheehy the General Manager at the Transport Benevolent Fund CIO is pleased the Fund is able to sponsor the Station Staff Award again this year. John said Station staff are an integral part of the railway and being the first port of contact, they play a very important role in helping customers and making their experience on the railway a pleasant one. They often have to deal with difficult situations that require compassion and courage when helping vulnerable people who enter the railway. They simply are a credit to the railway industry."

Phil Mounter

From Westermo Data Communications Ltd said the following on 12/07/2016:

"The category Signalling and Telecommunications Engineer of the year is special to us as this is the main discipline within Rail that uses our products and services for their Critical Data Communications Infrastructure. So having faith in the robustness, ease of use and low maintenance of our systems is important to us and in return we as a key supplier to the Rail Industry need to recognise this. So this year and for the 4th year running Westermo are proud to be part of the Railstaff awards 2016."
