ARTP's primary aim is to be the Association that represents the interests of all those involved in training, development and competence management services to the Railway Industry.

It sets out to achieve this by providing Members' Services:

• Raising training provider and assessor profiles
• Widening the scope of Technical disciplines supported
• Encouraging professional trainer development
• Communicating industry knowledge and information
• Providing Members with a practical, structured and useful programme of events
• Responding to Members' needs and delivering benefits

Also establishing a Strategic and Members' lobby to:

• Represent the interests of the membership in training and competence management
• Collaborate with Sector Skills Councils and National Bodies on national policies
• Participate in consultation and discussion within the Industry in relation to the strategic importance of training and competence management
• Influence and collaborate with key authorities and decision-makers
• Identify and use the appropriate resources to achieve these objectives
