ATOC sponsors RailStaff Awards 2010

10-02-2010

The Association of Train Operating Companies (ATOC) is sponsoring the RailStaff Awards 2010. ATOC, together with Network Rail, is the overall sponsor of the fast growing awards.

ATOC Chief Executive Michael Roberts said: “We are delighted once again to be an associate sponsor of the RailStaff Awards in what could prove to be a pivotal year for railways. There is a lively public debate around issues such as longer franchises, high speed rail and significant investment in projects such as Crossrail and Thameslink.

“The dedication, professionalism and hard work of railway staff remains constant throughout industry changes. These are the men and women who keep the railways running 24 hours a day. This has been a tough winter for railways but staff have gone the extra mile to keep the network open through all kinds of weather. We have an industry to be proud of and that should be celebrated.”

The RailStaff Awards, now in its fourth year, will be held on 23rd October 2010 at the International Convention Centre, Birmingham.

‘We are delighted that ATOC is backing the Railstaff Awards 2010,’ said Andy Milne, editor of RailStaff, part of the Rail Media Group which runs the awards.

“The RailStaff Awards are a simple way of saying the industry is keeping faith with those who deliver it and provide recognition for the thousands of rail staff who crew trains, operate machinery, plan services, take forward new projects and invest whole careers in what is a demanding and constantly changing field.”

Established in 1997, RailStaff specialises in positive news stories about railways and aims to support and encourage all those working in the industry in whatever capacity.
