Nominations for Samaritans Lifesaver Award

Said the following about Younes Ould-Hamouda:

““I would like to nominate a member of my Revenue Protection team Younes Ould-Hamouda for the Samaritans lifesaver award after receiving an email from a BTP T/PS Thorne in May 2018 highlighting a remarkable Intervention from Younes during the evening Peak that day.

PS Thorne stated that whilst carrying out a joint operation at Hampstead Heath, Younes suddenly ran from the gateline down the stairs towards the platform, it turns out Younes witnessed a 17 year old female double through the Ticket barriers and start running down the stairs.

Younes saw the female was not wearing any shoes and what appeared to be some type of tube on the side of her face, instantly assessing this wasn't normal behaviour he run down the other side of the stairwell and got to the bottom before the female and instantly put his arms out wide to stop her.

He managed to stop her getting onto the platform and saw instantly how emotional she was and she started saying she wanted to kill herself and throw herself in front of a train. Younes stayed in front of her and gave reassurance and within seconds BTP then came down the stairs along with nurses and doctors from the local hospital where it turns out this female had just absconded from.

I feel this was a truly great intervention as Younes had little or no time to react in a busy evening peak and not only saved the female but also stopped a large amount of commuters and the driver of the train from witnessing something very serious which could have caused a lot of distress.““
