Said the following about Tony Brindley:

“I would like to nominate Tony Brindley for the outstanding customer service award.

This is because in the last three years I have worked with Tony, I’ve never known someone to go above and beyond their job description and take pride in the job they are doing as much as Tony does. I’ve seen all the hard work he does from helping the school kids on and off the train to every emergency. It would be so good to see Tony win this award as he absolutely deserves it and is

Someone we all look up to and have a lot to learnt from him.

A situation occurred where we had a lady commit suicide at Romford station. Tony has worked for 18 years on the railway and has dealt with 13 suicides. After two years of not having any we all took this one quite hard but Tony as always dealt with the situation in a professional way, making sure the customers who witnessed it were sitting down and that they had tea and water for the shock and that they spoke to the police and that they knew the staff was there for them and they can stay as long as they needed to. Tony even went around and thanked the staff afterwards for all our hard work on that day but it was us who wanted to thank him as he gives such clear direction on what we all needed to do. He is always ready to help with a smile and a joke and his attitude to work astonishes me. I asked him once how many wheel chairs he has done in one day he said twenty eight when the Olympics was on and that he enjoyed every min of it.

He has also done a few things for charity including dyeing his beard and moustache green to raise £679 pound for MacMillan cancer support and even took part in the big rail diversity challenge on the 7 June. This is where he and the mixed group of women and men did physical and mental challenges. Tony said he really enjoyed himself and said the women done extremely well and the group couldn’t have done it without them.“
