Said the following about Rebecca Meggs:

“McGinley Support Services Marketing Department

I would like to nominate Rebecca Meggs, Marketing Communication Manager for McGinley Support Services for Marketing & Comms Person of the year.

Rebecca is inspirational, as a team of one based in head office she is the constant driving force behind many if not all of the innovations for McGinley Support Services. To name a few:

 Producing the content along with the McGinley Safety Team for SafetyINRail Magazine, a well-written and important free magazine which includes the latest safety news, industry hot topics, accident and incident statistics, safety alerts, useful guides and details of projects, incidents, health awareness and key contacts at McGinley Support Services.

 “SAM SAVES LIVES”. SAM which stands for “Safety at McGinley” is a bespoke multi-platform mobile app designed to give users a simple and speedy way to report close calls, anytime, anywhere enabling live feedback and the successful implementation of railway safety improvements. Which remain an ever important tool in improving health, safety and wellbeing of all those working in the rail industry. Rebecca worked closely with the internal health and safety team, safety representatives at our regular safety committee meetings as well as our operational delivery teams and frontline workforce to develop SAM and our “SAM SAVES LIVES” campaign.

 The social media voice of the Track Safety Alliance which was set up by a number of tier one contractors and Network Rail to allow stakeholders in 2011to develop and share best practice, of which McGinley was a founding member.

These elements show just a few of Rebecca commitments to the rail industry and safety and her ability to consistently work ‘above and beyond’ for the benefit of the whole rail sector“

Said the following about Rebecca Meggs:

“I would like to nominate Becky as I believe she is the unsung hero of our business. She is the glue that holds everything together and goes way and beyond her marketing role.

She is instrumental in all of the initiatives we are involved with. Recently her a few other colleagues built and designed a library for a local primary school as part of our STEM programme. She managed the whole project working all hours herself to get it finished.

Rebecca is also responsible for all of our safety initiatives including our new safety app SAM, Safety at McGinley. This has increased our close call reports tremendously. She has constantly improved our safety magazine SafetyINRail and this is now an industry recognised publication.

Over the past few years Becky has been at the forefront of marketing the TSA, even presenting the new website to members. She has organised all the social media and even though it runs itself to a degree now, it would not be as slick as it is without her input.

Overall Becky is a hardworking, helpful member of our business who will always offer assistance particularly to the bid and sales teams.

I wish her lots of luck“

Said the following about Rebecca Meggs:

“I have been working with Becky for the last 5 years as part of the Track Safety Alliance (TSA). Becky’s knowledge and dedication to the TSA is in invaluable, she is a real credit to McGinley Support Services. Along with her “day job” Becky supports me with running all marketing and communications for the TSA. Being involved from the start of the TSA in 2011 Becky has developed the brand of the TSA from scratch, all documentation templates, website and social media as well as assisting with TSA exhibitions and events. She has been instrumental in promoting innovative TSA safety campaigns such as Prer4Winter, Prer4Summer, Prep4Safety, working at height, fatigue and ballast dust to the wider rail industry.

Amongst the many key activities that Rebecca has been involved in over the years with there are two activities which stand out for me as a custodian of a 55 year old family business, and that is the way in which Rebecca uses her marketing and communication role to convey the ‘values’ of our business.

Firstly; the design, implementation and distribution of our bespoke Monopoly Game which;

i. Aligns the McGinley ‘family business’ and corporate values to worldwide recognised institutional family game which at its heart measures operational, transactional and commercial success.

ii. Generates amongst those who play the game an awareness of McGinley’s understands of the infrastructure market and the projects to which we deliver our services.

iii. Allow us to engage with all levels of the community and assist us in setting a seed of interest in the civil engineering infrastructure market in the minds of all players, particularly the young.

Secondly; the personal efforts and commitment Rebecca shows in her endless endeavours to personally and corporately connect with the local communities surrounding our offices and service locations (e.g. client projects) is surpassed by very few in our business. Rebecca recognises the importance of encouraging our staff to play their role in local community involvement and has on many occasions led by example by involving herself personally with many of these activities.

A lasting legacy based on the impact of a major or even small infrastructure project on the local social and economic environment of a community can only be realised when individuals such as Rebecca lead the way through her communication skills.“
