Said the following about Prescot Railway Station:

“Since taking over the role as this teams line manager I have seen an influx of comments to myself by our passengers both on the station and whilst travelling around the network.

I have seen how each and every member of the team are conscientious towards their day to day duties (they are part of regional team who are all lone workers when on shift), but whilst carrying these out are continually aware of what is happening around the station facilities.

A recent example shows as a team how they interact and communicate. One member of the team notice a young lady (under 18 years old), who appeared to be upset about something and was sitting for quite some time in the corner of the ticket hall. This was passed over to a relieving colleague who then in turn became concerned about her. He approached her to understand that she as suffering from some mental health and was considering committing suicide. She was taken to one side before the BTP and medical services arrived and eventually took her to a local hospital for help. The following day a member of staff had read the station log, then during the start of afternoon peak services spotted the same young lady entering the station once more. After a while he became concerned for her attendance and intentions on the station and immediately called for BTP when he realised she was there to try and kill herself once more. This time she was brought into a secure area of the station where this member of staff had food and drink bought for her out of his own pocket gave her his undivided attention until the emergency services arrived to take her back to hospital once more and saving her life twice in two days.

This is just one example of the attentiveness of the team, who regularly go well above and beyond the expected level of customer service.“
