Said the following about Network Operations People Development Team:

“I have nominated the Network Operations People Development Team for a number of reasons which I explore below.

Tim has ensured his team has found their place within the Control environment, despite its multifaceted challenges. He and his team are brilliant at finding the spark within an individual and nurturing them to become the best version of themselves. I personally look to Tim as a mentor, as he has always guided me and pushed me to shatter glass ceilings and build my own path within the railway industry. His creative streak is very rare, and something which stands out in the room and indeed across the company. He always has a smile on his face and never is too busy for a development conversation or to point someone in the right direction.

The team have supported and guided the Control room staff through a lot of change and challenges and I feel their efforts should be acknowledged. They have been at the heart of it, overseeing a huge timetable change, a never-ending supply of new starters, and a room full of potential needing to be developed and also supported. Tim and the team have worked tirelessly to revitalise a very limited training plan which they inherited, and turn it into something the company can be proud of, and ensured standards are not only met, but raised. They are a small team with a huge workload, supporting a whole host of different roles, characters and needs, yet manage the task and make it look easy. For example, Georgina approached the very challenging prospect of writing and implementing a competency system as well as Operational standards with enthusiasm, vigour, and her general charm. She has adapted to the role when required, and always maintained a positive attitude and a winning smile. Likewise, Steph and Nina have changed the way training occurs within Control by tailoring it to the needs of the individual and again, worked tirelessly to invigorate the staff to meet the challenges of the business. They went above and beyond and always maintained a positive attitude and cheery demeanour, even if the rest of the room was not so cheery!

This is on top of all the excellent work the team do as usual, such as supporting us all with Wellbeing Days, looking after new starters, delivering brilliant Operational Development Days, and organising courses. A particular strength of theirs is recognising potential in people who may not even see it themselves. I believe their efforts should be commended as they are real examples of instigators of change and raising the standard to one of excellence.

Thank you“
