Said the following about Lime Street Station:

“Lime Street Station gateline, platform and booking office staff deserve recognition for a challenging period of 5 weeks in the early part of the year.

Firstly in February there was a total power failure at the station, no lights, heating, computer or information systems were working and all staff had to direct customers using their mobile phones for timetable details. Offices were working by torch light.

A week later the country suffered the effects of Storm Doris which saw the railway in the north come to a standstill, Lime Street staff along with most other station staff had to deal with the weather conditions and the limited service available to our customers. Assisting customers to get to their destinations as much as possible.

Five days later the onslaught continued when a wall fell down onto the tracks between Lime Street and Edge Hill. This occurred at the evening peak causing severe disruption to services with all trains in and out of Liverpool halted. Staff had to manage a large number of commuters resulting in taxis and buses being arranged to get customers home.

The last of a demanding period was to deal with strike action by train crews which again resulted in reduced services being offered to our customers. Staff again took up the challenge to continue good customer service, offering advice and information to commuters ensuring the minimum amount of disruption to their day.

Team Liverpool took on these challenges and stepped up to make sure our customers were not inconvenienced too much, ensuring they had information of how to complete their journeys with the minimum amount of fuss. All staff surpassed themselves and deserve a pat on the back.“
