“Jane is the Station Manager for Cumbria. Since early May Jane has been under enormous pressure to keep Cumbria moving. With train cancellations, the new timetables issues and the summer season starting, Jane was been working long hours ensuring plans are in place to assist customers to complete their daily travel plans; this has involved arranging buses/taxis, ensuring information is available via posters and revised timetables, managing staff who have been on the receiving end of extremely irate and upset passengers, providing water to hot customers and also ensuring local school children who travelled on the trains daily were taken to school each morning and taken home each afternoon.
It has meant long hours, travelling all over Cumbria. Attending meetings with local Railuser groups to keep them updated, and managing a very difficult situation in the full glare of the countries press.
