“James’s official position is Area Customer Services Manager at Greater Anglia, but in reality he is the driving force behind a whole region. He steps out of his area of responsibility on a daily basis and is involved with asset issues, event planning, operational contingency, engineering as well as the day job of delivering outstanding customer service and train performance over his vast area of stations.
In his spare time he is the MD of a heritage railway, so when not at work he is passing on his passion for the Industry to enthusiasts and tourists alike. Quite simple he eats, sleeps and dreams about the railway. On top of that he is always smiling, cheerful and upbeat despite the challenges we face. His operational and infrastructure expertise is incredible and although not his department is the go to expert on anything that can happen on ballast.
I am privileged to nominate James to be recognised as Rail person of the year, he has a passion for this industry that is unmatched. To make it worse he is a really nice guy too!!“
