Said the following about Jack Ratcliffe:

“Jack Ratcliffe was recently promoted as Chief Architect for Automatic Train Protection Systems working for Bombardier Transportation, with a career of 15 years in the Railway Signalling world.

Having graduated from the University of Birmingham with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, he has since worked in on-board signalling integration projects, such as the Victoria Line Upgrade Project, Sub-Surface Lines Re-signalling Project, Crossrail (Elizabeth Line) and new rolling stock for London Overground. These projects have involved integration of both new and old rolling stock with a range of systems from various suppliers including metro style Communications Based Train Control Systems (CBTC), (some with fully automatic driverless capability), European Train Control Systems (ETCS) and conventional UK mainline systems (AWS/TPWS).

He was named Expert by Bombardier two years ago and our team members call him Superman!

Jack opened the path for me to start my signalling career while I was on the Graduate Program, and I have never looked back since. While I was the only woman in the team, he encouraged me, and 'buddied' me to ensure I progress to become a Signalling Project Engineer, a job that I love, team that I cherish, and projects that I am very proud of contributing to!

He is a role mode, in the attitude, the knowledge, and the achievements, which makes him the Signalling Person of the Year!“
