“Des came up with the idea of installing water fountains at our stations. This simple idea has had a massive impact for both our customers and our business.
For our customers, they have a facility where they can refill their own bottles for free saving the inconvenience of having to go into a shop to buy water which can sometimes be expensive.
For our business, the cost saving comes not only from reducing the amount of water ordered for customers during disruption but the environment saving has been enormous. These installations have saved thousands of plastic bottles ending up in landfill plus the amount of waste having to be manually handled has reduced dramatically.
Des is also fantastic with other projects that he carries out throughout the year, but this one simple idea of his is being rolled out at stations across the Greater Anglia network.“
